September 11 Remembered

The night before, when all was well in the world.
Terrorism was not a fiber interwoven in our daily lives.
Terror levels were...what were terror levels?
The wearing of shoes was the wearing of shoes.
Shoes were not seen as bomb devices.
70 year old women did not have to remove shoes at the airport.

Within a 15 minute timeframe, an icon of American wealth and power was targeted.
Both towers were attacked.
Both towers eventually collapsed.
Osama bin Laden became a household word.
Innocent people lost their lives and things changed forever.
September 11th changed security forever.

No matter where you are in the world,
Everyone has 9-11 Memories.
The wearer of this shoe is just a memory. A bittersweet one.
This shoe found at ground zero covered with that white dust.
That dust that blacked out the sun when the towers fell.
2948 confirmed victims lost their lives that day.
5896 shoes, gone. Just like dust in the wind.

That white dust symbolizes loss to me.
Loss that can never be made better.
Loss that we all better remember.
We must never forget the events of the 11th day of September.

What I do is kick them in the pants with a diamond buckled shoe!
