9/11 Commission Report

This week, President Bush welcomed the 9/11 Commission report and agreed with its conclusion that our Homeland is safer today, but that there is still work to be done. The Commission's final report came to conclusions similar to the Administration's on the vast majority of the key policy issues. The President has already addressed some of the Commission's recommendations by enacting the following policies.
Key Policies:
~~~Pursuing a worldwide strategy of disrupting and denying safe harbors to terrorist groups.
~~~Undercutting the ideological appeal of terrorism by standing for a "forward strategy of freedom" and promoting needed reforms in the broader Middle East.
~~~Developing and deploying cutting-edge technologies to secure our borders, our ports, our critical infrastructure, and other parts of our homeland.
~~~Continuing to reform the Intelligence Community with the passage of the USA PATRIOT Act; the transformation of the FBI; the expansion of the collection and analytical capabilities of the CIA; and the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, the Terrorist Threat Integration Center, and the Terrorist Screening Center.
